Partial lunar Eclipse in Pisces

September 17th/18th brings both a Partial Lunar Eclipse and a Super Moon. This makes it a rare and special Super Moon Lunar Eclipse. Super Moon Meaning that the Moon is much closer to the Earth in its orbit.

It’s happening at 3.45pm PST on the 17th and at 3.34am on the 18th BST. The partial lunar Eclipse will be in the sign of Pisces at 25 degrees 40 min.

The Eclipse

Eclipses are known for bringing sudden changes, insights, and opportunities to release old patterns. Full Moons represent completion, illumination, and culmination, and when paired with an eclipse, these themes become even more powerful.
A partial lunar eclipse with a Super Moon is a combination of two celestial events happening at the same time.

A Partial Lunar Eclipse occurs when only part of the Moon enters the Earth’s shadow, causing a portion of the Moon to appear darkened. The Earth is positioned between the Sun and the Moon, but they aren’t perfectly aligned. This results in only part of the Moon being covered by the Earth’s shadow (umbra), while the rest remains illuminated by sunlight or in the lighter penumbral shadow.

The Super Moon

As stated above a Super Moon happens when the Moon is at or near its closest point to Earth in its elliptical orbit, called the perigee. When the Moon is closer to Earth, it appears larger and brighter than usual.

When these two events happen you see a slightly larger and brighter Moon. This is due to the Super Moon effect, but a portion of the Moon will be covered by the Earth’s shadow.
It can be an impressive sight! Not only is the Moon larger than usual, but you also get the visual of part of the moon being eclipsed.

Influences

The influence of a partial lunar eclipse in Pisces may bring heightened sensitivity, encourage introspection, and amplify emotional awareness. This could lead to a deeper understanding of our inner feelings. It could perhaps even give us a sense of spiritual connection and healing. Eclipses can also signify the closure of certain emotional or life chapter. With Pisces involved, it might feel especially profound or even mystical.

If you know your chart, you could determine which houses and life areas of your chart might be most impacted. You could also look back to between March 2016 to feb 2017, last time we saw the Pisces/Virgo eclipses axis, and look at what themes may have come up for you at that time. By looking back It may give you an indication or flavour this time round.

This eclipse may particularly affect those who have planets or significant points around 25 degrees in Pisces or other mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius). It can stir up heightened sensitivity and emotional intensity, but it also brings an opportunity for healing and inner transformation. Pay attention to Dreams as they could be more vivid during this period, offering insights into unresolved issues or hidden truths. These dreams can provide profound spiritual insights and a deep connection to the unconscious mind, our imagination. I keep a book by my bedside table and often scramble in the morning to recall and record my dreams. It can be eye-opening and super helpful to look back at the themes and correlating dates.

Pisces Dreamy Stars

Pisces

Pisces is a water sign, known for its dreamy, intuitive, and spiritual nature. It has connections to our deepest emotions, the subconscious, and our imagination. During this eclipse, the energy of Pisces gives opportunity for us to reflect on our emotional well-being, spiritual growth, and creative pursuits. This is an excellent time to release emotional baggage or habits that no longer serve you. Pisces, being ruled by Neptune, also asks us to trust our intuition. It can allow ourselves to connect with our inner voice.

The Sun in Virgo

With the Sun in Virgo opposing the Pisces Moon, it invites us to balance the practical, detail-oriented energy of Virgo with Pisces’ more fluid, emotional approach. This eclipse motivates us to find harmony between our spiritual aspirations and the practical tasks of daily life. This partial lunar eclipse could also signify a focus on health and wellbeing of mind and body as the Moon is conjunct Neptune, the modern ruler of Pisces amplifying all of Pisces themes. Feelings of deep compassion, connection to others on an emotional or spiritual level, or heightened sense of intuition. However, it can also bring confusion or muddy the water, making it difficult to see situations clearly. Neptune’s influence can play out like a Hollywood movie by sometimes dissolving, blurring the lines between fantasy and reality, resulting in making us feel more ungrounded. Take time to ask yourself, is what i am seeing actual reality? Time out for creative and spiritual pursuits could be a great way to use this energy effectively. Helping us to stay grounded, go within, and connect with our intuition.

Pisces Virgo Axis

As the Pisces Virgo axis is being highlighted we could also see themes related to health with Pisces Moon symbolising the lymphatic system/immune system and Sun in Virgo, with a focus on health and well-being giving opportunity to purify and detox the system.

Lastly Lunar Eclipses have the uncanny ability to close doors bringing about the end of a chapter thats outdated, one that no longer serves our higher good, but have had difficulty closing. In such cases an eclipse can be a welcomed event that gives us that nudge in the right direction. On the other hand a Lunar Eclipse can bring unexpected and swift endings. This is by way of shaking up our lives with events, that upon later reflection strangely set us on the right path, giving a sense of fated events and permanent change.

Ultimately, this partial Eclipse is a chance for deep emotional release and renewal. Its urging us to let go of what no longer serves our higher purpose.
